Did you know that if you have Visa Non-B but you don’t have a Work Permit, you can’t work in Thailand!!
Although, you have a Non-Immigration Visa Business (Visa Non-B), you cannot work in Thailand until you have a Work Permit. Wonderful Package will suggest the process after you have a Visa Non-B.
After foreigners received Non-Immigration Visa "Business" from the Consulate of their Country or from the Immigration Office, you have to apply for a Work Permit at the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor in Thailand at least 45-60 days before the visa expired.
There are 3 types of Work Permit application.
- If you never have a work permit, please submit Work Permit application (W.P. 1) at the Department of Employment.
- If your Work Permit was expired, please proceed your application same as no. 1.
- If you have Work Permit will expire recently, please renew by submit Work Permit application (W.P. 5) before the expiration of 30 days.
To summarize, once you have received your Visa Non-B, please apply for a Work Permit immediately because it takes time to collect the documents.
The applicant will need to supply the following documents to apply for a new or renewal of the Work Permit.
- Form W.P.1 (For new) or W.P. 5 (For renewal)
- 3 x 4 cm -sized photograph (taken within the past 6 months)
- A medical certificate not older than 6 months (Don’t have Taboo disease)
- Personal history, educational background and work history
- Passport with validity of not less than 6 months
- Visa Non-B (45-60 days before expiration) and Work Permit (in case of renewal)
- Letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour to eligible to work
- Por Ngor Dor 91 of foreigners (In the case of renewal)
- Important documents of hiring from company in Thailand
- Supporting documents following the type of business or employer
- Fees depend on the type of document requested
If you are submitted incomplete documents, you will not receive a Work Permit!!
The processing time for Work Permit is approximately 3-7 days. The validity of Work Permit will be 3 - 6 months or 1 - 2years depends on the consideration of Department of Employment. However, those who working in Thailand for the first time, it may have Work Permit validity for 3-6 months or equal to Visa Non-B.
After receiving the Work Permit, don't forget to extend the validity of Visa Non-B. Then, you can continue to work in Thailand.
