Foreigners wishing to move to Thailand after marriage registration with a Thai nationality can apply for extension to stay in Thailand with a "Marriage Visa", also known as a "Follower Visa"

How is Thai people who have a foreign wife and want to move into Thailand together should do?

For foreigners whose spouses are Thai people and want to move to Thailand permanently must have a Non-O or Non-Immigrant Visa "O" (Family) visa.
When entering Thailand for the first time, they will receive a 3-month Visa. Therefore, they can apply an extension visa year by year to comply with the requirements of a Thai marriage visa.

When they received a Non-Immigrant Visa, they cannot request to stay in Thailand for more than one year at that time.
In this regard, the request for extension of stay in each year must show evidence of financial status. If the husband is an alien who marries a Thai woman, he must have an average annual income not less than 40,000 baht per month or they have a deposit in a Thai bank account not less than 40,000 baht in the past 2 months to spend during a year.

After receiving the visa, you must be present every 90 days at the immigration Bureau. The process is not complicated and does not take it long if you comply with the rules and preparing complete documents as specified by the Immigration Bureau.

Where to apply?

Foreigners who already reside in Thailand can apply to change the type of visa at the regional Immigration Bureau office. The visa duration must over 15 days and must never have a history of overstay so they have the right to submit the request.

1. Passport (Validity of not less than 6 month and have 2 blank pages)
2. 3 photos (2 inch with white background)
3. Copy of Marriage Certificate
4. Copy of Identity Card  and House Registration Certificate
5. Copy of the map of residence in Thailand
6. Copy of a photograph of family relations and residences (houses, areas inside and outside)
7. Copy of a Bank Account showing money amount 400,000 baht and deposited at least 3 months before applying the visa or copy of Bank Statement amount 40,000 baht per month.
8. In addition, Article 6 is only for foreigners with Thai wives only.

The Immigration Bureau will require the following documents to be shown to consider granting a Thai marriage visa.
However, registration of marriage with Thai people does not guarantee that you will receive a Thai marriage visa. It depends on your documents as specified.
