Getting to know Non-Immigrant Visa "O"
For foreign workers in Thailand, they must apply for a Work Permit and Visa Non-B to working in Thailand. What if you are followers? What kind of license do you need? And how to renew?
Whether it is following the husband/wife or following family members working in Thailand, you have to apply for a correct visa type. However, it will be different from coming to work which is called the permission for followers is Non-Immigrant Visa "O".
Who needs to apply for Non-Immigrant Visa "O"?
- Foreigners who registered to marry Thai people or foreigners who sponsor Thai children.
- Family/ followers of Non-B Visa holders with a Work Permit in Thailand
- Family/ followers of Retired Visa holders under 50 years old
When you should apply a Non-Immigrant Visa "O"?
- For first-time visa application, family followers will receive a single entry visa valid for 90 days issued by the embassy or the Consular Affairs of Thailand in the country of your citizenship.
- For the next visa application, followers must apply at least 21 days in advance before the visa expire. Your visa will extend up to 1 year but depending on the consideration of the Immigration Bureau in Thailand. While awaiting consideration, you can live in Thailand.
What are the documents to apply for Non-O Visa Extension?
- Form TM. 7
- Copy of the applicant's passport
- Copy of passport of an alien who is allowed to stay in the Kingdom (In case of following Non-B Visa holders)
- Copy of documents showing relationships such as proof of marriage, copy of Birth Certificate, proof of Child Registration, copy of the Adoption Certificate, or other evidence from government or related department.
- Copy of Residence Certificate and copy of Alien Registration Certificate of Residence
Tips for Non-O Visa Extension
Apart from the matter of requesting permission and visa extension, these are important things to know because it affects your stay in Thailand.
- You can apply for a visa at the Immigration Bureau at the province of family works or resides.
- In case of obtaining a 1-year visa, you must submit a report to the Immigration Bureau every 90 days.
- If you have to leave the country for any reason, you must have a permission to re-entry in Thailand from the nearest Immigration Bureau office or international airport to depart from the country. If you do not have a Re-Entry Visa, your visa might be canceled (except Multiple Entry).
- Non-O Visa holders are not allowed to work in Thailand according to the law. If you wish to work, you must obtain a Non-B Visa and must have a Work Permit.
- Spouse followers must have a relationship with de jure and de facto.
- Followers who are children, adopted children, or children of spouses must not be under 20 years old, still living with family and unmarried.
- Followers who are father or mother must be 50 years old or more.
- In case of divorce with your spouse, Non-O Visa will be canceled and you have to leave the country immediately.
In summary, the followers have to obtain a Non-O Visa to live in Thailand. If staying in Thailand for a long time, you must renew the visa when it nearly expired. Whenever a follower wants to work, you have to apply for a Non-B visa as well.
