Visiting Chiang Rai Highest in Siam

Most foreign tourists know only the major cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. Today, we will introduce Chiang Rai, the northernmost province of Thailand that surrounded by nature and mountains as well as outstanding with art and northern culture. People who have been here want to return to Chiang Rai again.

The White Temple or Wat Rong Khun

You may have seen photos of clean white temples but if you haven't seen it with your own eyes, you won't know that the beauty of paradise still exists. The elaborate detail that we have seen is from the intention of Teacher Chalermchai Kositpipat, a famous Thai artist. He wants to continue Buddhism to gradually build this temple in 20 years ago and expect to continue to be a great work of art as a treasure of Thailand.

In the construction of Wat Rong Khun is concealed with many meanings such as white means purity, a bridge is a crossing over the compassion, canines or mouth of the devil means passion in the heart, and the middle of the bridge is Mount Meru, etc.

Black House Museum or Baan Dam

Chiang Rai has the Black House Museum or Baan Dam which is a collection of wood buildings featuring works by Thawan Duchanee & other contemporary Thai artists. The Black House Museum has unique characteristics, Lanna Arts. There are houses on over 100 rai of land amid shady trees that allowing us to fully enjoy the art.

The Blue Temple or Wat Rong Suea Ten

Another temple that is both beautiful and amazing is Wat Rong Suea Ten. It has a new chapel built in a Thai applied-style with blue and gold interior. 

The blue sky color is like the teachings of the Lord Buddha spread far away as vast as the sky. This is a design of Putha Kabkaew, a student of Chalermchai Kositpipat, who created the famous Wat Rong Khun nearby. This temple has a delicacy similar to Wat Rong Khun but still has its own identity. 

The Naga staircase draws the distinctive and beautiful bent tusks from the Black House Museum to indicate the outstanding art of Chiang Rai.

Doi Tung Royal Villa

Another important place in Chiang Rai that you should not miss. It was the former residence of HRH Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother. She chose to stay in Doi Tung instead of going abroad which leads to many Doi Tung development projects such as a forest plantation on the hill, create careers for hill tribes. She is very much loved by Chiang Rai people.

Within this area, there is the Mae Fah Luang Garden which is the garden for a winter flower that can be planted in Chiang Rai because of the cold weather and alternate planting seasonally. There is a simple palace building that combines the styles of a Swiss chalet and northern Lanna architecture. Also, there are Wat Phra That Doi Tung and many spots in Doi Tung that tourists can visit throughout the area.

Golden Triangle

When travel to Chiang Rai If there is a chance, we recommend visiting the Golden Triangle. This is a connection between 3 countries including Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge into a triangle area breakthrough the Mekong River. You should travel here during the winter to get a good atmosphere.

Phu Chi Fah

Take to see the beautiful nature of Chiang Rai, the most beautiful mist of Thailand. The nature of the cliff protruding, it why the name is Phu Chi Fah. If wanting to visit here, it should come in winter. Camping and watching the stars at night and woke up to watch the morning mist.

Choui Fong Tea Plantation

Old tea plantations in Chiang Rai province which located on a high mountain in an area of over 500 rai. You will see the tea plantation descending to the steps when looking up it very beautifully.

Chiang Rai Walking Street

Culminating with the evening atmosphere, take you to Chiang Rai Walking Street or Chiang Rai Night Bazaar. There are native souvenirs including hill tribe’s products and various local products mostly are hand-made. There is a northern traditional performance as well as local foods to try.
