If foreign tourists would like to apply for the Visa on Arrival (VOA) in Thailand, what are the preparing documents?
Want to travel Thailand for a week but do not want to waste time applying for a visa in advance, try to check that your privilege is in the nationality of the country that is allowed to enter Thailand without a visa in advance.

What is Visa on Arrival (VOA)?
- VOA is a tourist visa that is not more than 15 days.
- Passport holders can apply for a visa immediately upon arrival to the destination country at the Immigration checkpoint in the country (Specific places) without to do a visa in advance. (Apply for a visa when arriving in Thailand).
- Passport holders will receive a visa to enter the country immediately when requesting a VOA, which will be received at the Immigration checkpoint in the country (Specific places).
- People who will use this type of visa must have citizenship with a passport or travel documents of the countries that have an agreement to except for the diplomatic and official diplomatic visa with Thailand. There are a total of 18 countries and 1 economic zone.
- The process for requesting a VOA will take approximately 20-25 minutes.
Qualifications of Thai visa applicants.
- Holding passport or travel documents and the validity of more than 6 months.
- Having evidence that you will travel out of Thailand after finish stay in Thailand such as Air Ticket and holding a Visa or evidence that you can go out to your country of residence or continue to another countries (For transit).
- Not be a person banned from entering the Kingdom under the Immigration Act 1979 such as has been imprisoned by a judgment of the Thai Court or a foreign court's, are circumstances that are believed to be a danger to society, cause danger to the peace or safety of the people, or is a person whose foreign government officials have issued an arrest warrant.
- Having sufficient money for expenses while staying in Thailand under the regulations which are at least 20,000 baht per person.
What are the supplemental documents to apply for a Visa on Arrival (VOA)?
- Complete a visa application form (Form can be obtained at the specified permit Immigration channels).
- Passport with a validity of not less than 6 months.
- One recent passport-sized photograph (4 x 6 cm)
- Tickets or receipts with full-payment that able to travel out within the permitted time frame, which is no more than 15 days from the date of travel.
- Money or other forms of money that can exchange rate in Thai currency not less than 10,000 baht per person or not less than 20,000 baht per family.
- Fee 2,000 baht
Each country will have important documents that are required to apply for a visa differently. Thus, before traveling you should check the official website for the country and territory of the destination.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Visa on Arrival (VOA)?
The advantage is
- Save time and fast, no need to apply for a visa in advance, and can be received a visa only 20-25 minutes after submitting. Normally, the visa application takes about 30 business days.
- Convenient. It uses a few supporting documents, just have the complete documents and nationality of the exempt country. Then can submit and receive immediately.
- Safe. No need to worry about lost documents while waiting for visa approval.

Remark: Aliens or stateless people holding passports or travel documents from 18 countries and 1 economic zone (Taiwan) can't get a Visa on Arrival. They must obtain a visa from the embassy or the Thai Consulate-General abroad before arriving only.

Remark: Permission to enter Thailand including specifying the period of stay in Thailand. It is the authority of the Immigration officer. Therefore, some foreigners who have obtained a visa may not be allowed to enter the country if the Immigration officer considers that the said person has a characteristic or behavior as a prohibited person to enter the Kingdom as Immigration Act 1979.
