The criteria and conditions for considering the change of visa type (Visa)
- Changing the type of visa must have a tourist visa and duration of stay not less than 15 days left.
- The applicant for Non- Immigrant “O” visa must be a family followers of "Non-B Visa" visa holders who have a Work Permit in Thailand and have worked for at least 1 year.
- Have a Work Certificate and a Work Permit that is still valid for a family working in Thailand.
- The followers include parents, spouses, children, adopted children or children of spouses only.
- Having proof of relationship such as Marriage certificate, Birth certificate, Certificate of Child registration, House registration, Adoption certificate Or other evidence from government agencies or related agencies.
- In case of the applicant is a child must not be older than 20 years.
- In case of the applicant is a father or mother must be aged 50 years or older.
- The applicant must prepare complete and accurate supporting documents for the Non-Immigrant “O” visa application.
- Holders of Tourist Visas and the Non-Immigrant “O” visa are not permitted to work in Thailand.
Answer:
- In this case, the wife cannot change the visa type since the visa has expired. The Immigration officials will not accept to change.
- You must travel out of the country and then apply for the Non-Immigrant “O” visa or a tourist visa only from the Thai embassy or the Thai consulate in the country.
- Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, the government temporarily closed the country that makes it impossible to leave the country. You have to wait to announce when the country will open again. Therefore you can travel outside the country to apply for the Non-Immigrant “O” visa or tourist visa.
However, if the wife's visa has not expired:
- Advice to hurry to apply for a visa extension and extend stay. After the extension of the 30-day extension of your stay, you should proceed to apply for a visa change soon.
