For foreigners who have been granted temporary or tourist visas, need to apply for a re-entry permit before traveling out of Thailand if want to keep current visa status when re-entering Thailand. There are two types of re-entry permits:

Tips for Maintaining Visa Rights for Re-Entry into Thailand
When applying for a Thailand Re-Entry Permit, consider the following:
- Visa Validity: If the remaining validity of your current visa in Thailand is short, opt for a Single Re-Entry Permit. If you have a long-term visa, apply for a Multiple Re-Entry Permit.
- Travel Frequency: If you need to travel abroad frequently, it is advisable to apply for a Multiple Re-Entry Permit. If you travel infrequently, a Single Re-Entry Permit will be sufficient. This helps to prevent any issues in maintaining your current visa before leaving Thailand.
- Initial Visa (Single Entry up to 90 Days): Foreigners with a visa allowing entry to Thailand for up to 90 days on a Single-Entry basis can also apply for a Re-Entry Permit if they need to travel out of and back into Thailand. Ensure you return to Thailand before the visa expires.
This approach ensures you maintain your visa rights and avoid complications with re-entry into Thailand.
